All of your wedding plans are set, you’ve finalised all your wedding vendors and now its getting closer and closer to your special day. You want to look like the best version of yourself on your wedding day, so it’s now time to think about your skincare.

I’ve spoken to some of the top bridal hair and makeup artists for their top tips and here’s what they have to say.

Layer your skincare regime, this will change your skin game in a way you would not imagine!

- Sandy Sunner

With the correct skincare routine, you will glow from within and achieve that picture perfect look

Cleanse and in the evening ensure you are double cleansing using a balm or oil cleanser (non-foaming) to remove the dirt / makeup with a wet flannel.

Eye products to be applied in the orbital area. For the morning a hydrating eye gel; I recommend Medik8 Eyelift Peptides. Then use your eye cream; I recommend Eye Dudy Niacinamide Brightening Cream. In the evening an eye retinol; I recommend The Inkey List Retinol,  followed by your eye cream.

Acids to exfoliate. I love Ordinary Glycolic acid for exfoliation & Hyaluronic acid to give you an injection of hydration (Ordinary range).

Serums this is most certainly where you should spend your money. Vitamin c is a must in protecting from pollutants, I recommend Medik8 c30.

Moisturise to lock in the products you have used. This doesn’t need to be expensive (I love La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Fluid).

SPF no less than factor 50 This is the ultimate secret weapon in keeping your skin looking its best; protecting from damage and ageing.

- Aamir Naveed

For the perfect clean and glossy finish to any bridal hairstyle the ends of your hair need to be in best condition!

Dry, rough, damaged and split ends make it a lot more difficult to get that clean finish.

Therefore it’s extremely important to have your hair trimmed every six weeks keeping your hair healthy overall as well as getting rid of damaged ends!

There is a misconception amongst most people that they need to grow there hair for there big day, but most of the time hair extensions are used and healthier is easier to blend with the extensions, so hair health is way the most important!

A secret to good skincare is really taking care of what you are putting into your body

- Gini Bhogal

Food is important to have great skin. Naturally gorgeous skin often starts with your diet. I see a lot of clients crash diet before their wedding, if you do this or eat a lot of processed foods, your skin won’t be as strong and supple as it could be. If you don’t eat enough protein, you are actually depriving your skin of the amino acids that go into making collagen (which makes your skin strong).

I consume a great smoothie atleast 3-4 times a week that contains collagen and will keep my skin hydrated and rejuvenated from the inside (recipe below);

Smoothie ingredients;

Red berries (2oz), Frozen Shredded Coconut (2oz), Super Green Powder (1 tsp), Lemon Juice (1 tsp), Fresh Turmeric (1 tsp), Ashwagandha Powder (1/2 tsp), ALmond Milk (2 cups).

Gini Bhogal is a highly sought after bridal makeup artist, not just in the UK but around the World also. With over 25 years of experience in the industry it’s no surprise her clients include Bollywood celebrities like Sonam Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Diana Penti and more. She is regularly featured in Harpers Bizarre Vietnam and India, Cosmopoloitan and Grazia India, Khush magazine

Do not sleep in makeup

- Kerry Baines

This should go without saying. Most women apply quite a few layers of product on their skin daily, skincare, SPF and makeup. Add to that all of the pollution and grime from outside and now think about sleeping with all of this left on your skin, embedding into your pores causing all kinds of skin problems such as spots and dehydration. Not only that but sleeping with eye makeup on can lead to nasty styes, something you definitely don’t want appearing near your wedding day.  So make sure you are double cleansing with a balm, oil or cream every night. The first cleanse is to remove makeup and surface dirt and the second to clean your actual skin, it’s a no to face wipes!

On the subject of sleep, ensure you are getting enough hours in. For many, this is one thing that just goes out the window during your wedding time, so put sleep at the top of your priorities, no matter what.  Sleep helps to manage your hormone and stress levels. It will avoid those dark circles and tired, stressed out looking skin.

Kerry Baines is a well renowned MUA based in the West Midlands. With 20 years of experience within all areas of the industry her clients have included various celebrities, BBC, Pandora, Babyliss, ITV & Disney to name but a few.  She has also worked for one of the makeup industry's leading brands, Bobbi Brown.

A master of her craft, she creates stunning bridal looks, whether that be boho, romantic , vintage or modern. She has a nack for enhancing a brides natural beauty and making them feel amazing and confident on their special day.

Sleep on a silk pillowcase

- Jatinder Grewal

This not only prevents fine lines, wrinkles and face creases, but will keep skin hydrated too!  A silk pillowcase is less likely to absorb moisture from skin and also great for your hair in preventing tangling, frizz.

Look out for mulberry silk which is equivalent to Egyptian cotton. If you want something more cost effective, faux silk will have similar benefits, easier to clean and more durable. Don’t expect miracles but this can certainly contribute to giving a more youthful appearance.

Starting his career at 16 years old, Jatinder Grewal is now a renowned make up artist within the Asian bridal industry. With a huge following of 36k followers – he has built great relationships with his clients, followers, and industry colleagues over the years with an active presence on Instagram. It will really help to replenish your skin, and maybe swap that cup of coffee for a green tea instead! Don’t get a fresh cut before the big day!

- Kam Lavoi

A fresh cut will make your hair blunt, therefore making it harder for the hairstylist to mould the hair into place. So do allow enough time between you last cut and your wedding day. Using regular treatments with The Lavoi Elixir will keep your hair ends soft and supple. This will keep your hair healthy and looking great.

Wash your hair on the morning of your wedding but DO NOT skip the conditioner...!!!

When you wash your hair the ph balance of shampoo will open up the hair cuticle but when you use conditioner it closes the hair shaft again leaving the outer layer smooth. I always recommend using a lightweight conditioner to close the cuticle and soften the the hair shaft but still allowing the stylist to give volume at root without battling with static and frizz!

As well as hairdressing full time in a salon Kam also styled hair for brides for over 15 yrs and many of her brides became regular hairdressing clients too! Hair has really been the only obsession for Kam which led her to launch a product line starting with the much loved Lavoi Elixir!

This multi use hair oil was the brainchild of hair guru Kam and the already established organic hair products company Hair O UK .

Her journey continues as she frequently holds Q&A sessions on her Instagram platform and is always willing to help anyone with hair related questions.
